Cable Glands

In addition to the large portfolio of enclosures, Weidmüller offers cable glands made of brass, plastic and stainless steel as well as plugs, pressure compensation elements, adaptors and the corresponding accessories such as locknuts, sealing rings, flat washers and earthing rings.
To match the enclosures, the cable glands meet the requirements of IP protection classes IP54 to IP69K and can be used in standard industrial applications, EMC applications or explosive risk zones, as required, and they comply with the approvals required for this purpose. The Ex-certified Klippon® cable glands also enable the connection of braided and shielded reinforcements with and without lead sheathing as well as the connection of steel wire and steel tape cables and wires. They can withstand temperatures ranging from -60 °C to +180 °C.
Depending on the cable gland series and application area, the cable glands, sealing plugs, adapters, pressure compensation elements and accessories are manufactured and certified according to the following standards:
  • IEC/EN 60423 (metric thread)
  • IEC/EN 40430 (PG and NPT thread)
  • IEC/EN 60079-0 (general ATEX directive)
  • IEC/EN 60079-1 (Ex d ATEX directive)
  • IEC/EN 60079-7 (Ex e ATEX directive)
  • IEC/EN 60079-11 (Ex i ATEX directive)
  • IEC/EN 62444 (Construction and Design)
  • IEC/EN 60529 (IP protection degree)
The range of cable glands, sealing plugs and pressure compensation elements is available in metric (M) and high-strength (PG) threads in sizes from M 12 to M 75 and PG 7 to PG 48. When selecting cable glands and sealing plugs, the table with the sealing characteristics of the O-rings, flat gaskets and sealing rings must be considered. The O-ring or flat gasket is always provided to seal the connecting thread e.g. of an enclosure; the sealing ring of each cable gland is for actually sealing and clamping the connecting cable.
